We are happy to offer single day hikes or several day hiking tours (Mont-Avic Park, Gran Paradiso, Alta Via and Monte Rosa Tour).

The Nature & Trekking Guides will be around in our valley from July until September, to offer you spectacular guided walks in our mountains.
Every Sunday evening over the summer (from 01/07), make your way to the Maison des Guides at Champoluc at 21.00 where the “Trekking Monterosa” Guides will present their exciting weekly program.
Every day from Monday to Saturday, “Trekking Monterosa” has something for you:
- Monday –Riding my bike: afternoon mountain bike
- Tuesday – Towards the refuges between culture and traditions, along “our canals”: full day of medium difficulty with nature guide, packed lunch or shelter (by reservation)
- Wednesday – From the hills to the peaks: Full day with an alpine guide for a demanding excursion, packed lunch or in a refuge (by reservation)
- Thursday -Walking & tasting km0 food: visit and snack (optional fee) in the farm or wellness excursion: Afternoon with nature guide
- Friday -Lakes and mountain lakes: full day with nature guide for a challenging excursion, packed lunch or shelter (by reservation)
- Saturday –The Saturday of the village: visit with tourist guide to discover the cultural heritage of the ancient villages of the Ayas Valley in the afternoon
General Information:
- The excursions are free for “Trekking Monterosa Hotel” guests and open to all nature lovers;
- Bookings should be made in your hotel reception, at least 2 days before the date of your chosen excursion;
- Max 20 persons: lunch is available in mountain refuges (booking required) or should you prefer, you may bring your own lunch box;
- Dress code: attire for trekking in mountains, mountain footwear, impermeable lightweight jacket (eg K-way), water bottle, duffle bag.

Perrin-Mascognaz Traverse
Perrin-Mascognaz Traverse
This excursion begins in the Cuneaz valley and ends in the valley of Mascognaz. The hike up is through a beautiful trail surrounded by amazing flora and small lakes. The descent is equally as captivating, with a large waterfall and breathtaking views of the high mountain tops.

Mezzalama Mountain Refuge (3035m)
Mezzalama Mountain Refuge (3035m)
If you have never touched snow in the summer time, this hike is for you. The impressive altitude of the Mezzalama hut allows for a complete change of season in one day, taking you from the warm summer air to the cool glacier in a few hours of hiking. The valley of Verra is beautiful and photogenic with the bright blue glacial river flowing through it. As the hike progresses, more and more of the white snow and ice can be seen of the magnificent Monte Rosa glacier. The hike becomes exciting once past the bright blue glacial lake and the path gets thinner. Sometimes mountain goats can be spotted and finally, the refuge, built in the 1930s sits on the large moraine of the Verra Glacier with its red shutters and wooden walls.

Valnera Point Excursion
Valnera Point Excursion
This outing takes place in the Palasinaz valley. Departing from Estoul, hike to the Arp mountain hut (2440m) and then hike up to the summit at 2750 meters.

Double Valley Loop: Ayas Valley and Valtournenche
The day begins at Barmasc, a small village in the Ayas valley. We hike to the Pillonet pass, where we can see the vast and beautiful Valtournenche and the lakes of Champlong. Once reached the lakes we climb back up, arriving at the Portola pass and going back over to the Ayas valley.

The Nana Pass
The Nana Pass
The meeting point is at St Jacques in the early morning. We will hike up to the Nana Pass through the beautiful Nana Valley. The hike is not difficult and there is a vertical altitude climb of 1000m. From the Nana Pass, there is the possibility of turning the hike into a quest for a summit; either the Trecare or the Nana. Re-entry will be to St Jacques in the evening. There is also the possibility of using the Jeep taxi until the Tournalin mountain hut.

The Cime Bianche (White Peaks) Valley
The Cime Bianche (White Peaks) Valley
The Cime Bianche Valley is the last valley in the entire Ayas region which is untouched. There are no lifts, no roads, no restaurants, no huts. In this day and age, it is a rare thing to see and we want you to experience being surrounded by the valley’s natural beauty. The hike begins at St Jacques, is easy and covers 1300 meters of vertical altitude climb. Re-entry is in the evening, back to St Jacques.

The Ayas Guides Mountain Hut (3420m)
The Ayas Guides Mountain Hut (3420m)
This hike up to the highest mountain hut in Ayas is anything but ordinary. Your feet will take off on a typical hiking trail, then hit a peculiar gravel left by the receding glacier, then walk over giant boulders, and finally step on snow and ice, even in July. The hike is of an easy level and quite long, covering 1700 meters of vertical altitude climb. The departure and re-entry are at St Jacques, leaving in the early morning and returning in the evening.

The Testa Grigia
The Testa Grigia
The lift system will take us from Champoluc to Alpe Ostafa. From there, we will begin our hike up to the Pinter Pass and look down onto the Gressoney Valley. From there, the hike up the Testa Grigia begins. There are fixed ropes and chains in the more exposed areas, making it an adventurous and very fun ascent. Finally at the top, there is room for a snack and a truly magnificent view of two entire valleys, as you will be standing at over 3000 meters in altitude. The return is back the same way, ending in Champoluc in the evening.

Mount Grand Tournalin
Hike up to the Grand Tournalin Summit to see the Valtournenche valley on the other side. The hike up is in the Nana Valley, a beautiful place to spend the day. One can either hike all the way from St Jacques or begin after getting a lift to the Tournalin Refuge by Jeep and return to St Jacques that evening.

The Quintino Sella Mountain Hut (3585m)
This ascent is just about as fun as they come. From Champoluc, the ski lift system takes you up to the frontier of the Ayas and Gressoney valleys, providing a 360 degree view of the breathtaking Alps and the impressive Lys glacier. From the Colle Bettaforca, the hike up the rocky terrain begins, and becomes a fun and challenging ascent along a ridge using fixed ropes and chains to arrive at the Sella hut, where the temperature can drop dramatically and you can find winter in July. The same route is used in descent.

Monte Rosa Hiking Tour
Monte Rosa Hiking Tour
Hike from the Ayas Valley to Zermatt, Switzerland along the historical Walser Trails.
This unique 7 day hiking trip goes along the easy and very walkable hiking trails which used to connect the alpine communities of Monte Rosa. The route is picturesque and historically fascinating. Come and learn about the important Walser people of the Alps.
Duration: 7 giorni
Difficulty: 6-8 hours of hiking per day, must be in good physical shape.

Tripple Valley Hike
Tripple Valley Hike
The tripple valley hike is a multi-day experience for people who are looking for a little more than a normal hike. The combination of beautiful trails and a glacier traverse make for a unique and exciting voyage across three valleys of the Alps.
On the first day, beginning in the Ayas valley, we will hike up the Cuneaz valley up to the Pinter Pass at 2777m. From there, we will descend into the Gressoney Valley and sleep in a nice mountain refuge in the Walser village of Alpenzu.
On the second day, we will hike down to the main road in Gressoney to catch a quick bus ride up to the village of Staffal. From there, we will take the lifts up to Bettaforca and hike up to the Bettolina Pass at 2903m. From there, we will hike down to the Verra Plain, traversing into a new and incredibly picturesque valley. We will hike up to the Ayas Guides Refuge and stay overnight at the foot of the Verra Glacier at 3446m.
The third day is the traverse day where we will wake up early and walk on the glacier to reach yet another valley: Valtournenche, home of the Matterhorn. The glacier hike involves walking along the bases of four amazing 4000m summits, until reaching the Breithorn pass at 3838m. In Valtournenche, we will descend until the Guide del Cervino hut and stay overnight there.
On the fourth and final day, we will depart for the long hike down through the White Peaks Valley, one of the most beautiful and rarest untouched valleys in the Alps, until we reach St Jacques in the Ayas Valley once again.
Difficulty: Must be in good physical shape.
Price: 300 € per person, minimum 4 people.
