Colle Vascoccia (2559m) and Monte Facciabella (2621m)
The climb to Colle Vascoccia (2559m) and Monte Facciabella (2621m) is a fairly easy trip and therefore also suitable for beginners of ski mountaineering. The route offers a spectacular view on the Monte Rosa massif. The skiing down will be along the hidden Nana Valley, ending up in Frachey from where you will return to the cars with the shuttle. Alternatively is possible to pick an easier line directly back to Mandrou.

Corno Bussola (3023m) - Palasinaz-Mascognaz crossing
Corno Bussola (3023m) - Palasinaz-Mascognaz crossing
From Estoul (1870m), climb up to the Litteran Lake (2240m) (when the ski system is open is possible to reach this point by the lifts) and enter the Palasina Valley, then pass alongside the Bieteron to the bottom of the valley. Then climb up to Alpe Palasina and then, crossing the various lakes, you come under the steep slope leading to the south ridge of Corno Bussola (3023m). To get to the summit, you go up the slopes to the left. In this last stretch, you must be careful on the ground and it is suggested to use crampons. From the summit along the west ridge for about 100 meters (rocks) to a passage that allows you to access with a short and steep canal, to the valley of Mascognaz. Downhill on magnificent slopes and finally reach the bottom of the valley at Alpe Pra Sec (2156m). From there, through the wood you reach the beautiful village of Mascognaz and after Champoluc directly by skis.

The Becca di Nana – or called Falconetta – is a very popular destination. It is a classic ski touring itinerary, although it is rather challenging in the final part. From the top there are many possible lines, that will be choosen by the guide according to the conditions.

Three valleys tour
Three valleys tour
The tour starts at Antagnod lifts (Pian Pera 1734m). You climb up to the Colle Pillonet (2702m) and then down to Chamois, typical alpine village (1815m). By the lifts you climb up to the Clavalité Sanctuary (2472m) and after down to the village of Cheneil (2115m) and towards Valtournenche (1565m). By the lifts, you reach the Cime Bianche Pass (2894m) from where, you can see the beautiful Monte Rosa and Matterhorn. You go back to Saint Jacques (1689m) throught the Cime Bianche Valley and then you will reach your car in Antagnod by the shuttle.

Monte Rosa Tour
Five days of “skis on” to discover unforgettable views and typical mountain villages of the Walser culture; all admiring the majestic walls of the Monte Rosa massif. A classic ski tour travelling araoun the mountains between Italy and Switzerland.
Program:
- Day 1: from Champoluc (1568m) to the Rifugio Pastore (1575m). Departure from Champoluc (1568m) and arrive at Rifugio Pastore (1575m) in Alagna Valsesia. Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
- Day 2: from Rifugio Pastore (1575m) to Macugnaga (1327m). From the Rifugio Pastore (1575m), through the panoramic Colle del Turlo (2738m), you arrive at Macugnaga (1327m), a mountain village in Piedmont. Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
- Day 3: from Macugnaga (1327m) to the Britannia Hütte (3030m). Departure from Macugnaga (1327m) and by lifts, you reach Monte Moro (2796m). Then descent towards Saas-Almagell (1672m), a characteristic Swiss village in the canton of Valais. By transfer, you reach Saas Fee (1798m) “The Pearl of the Alps” and from here, with the lifts (Cable Car of the Felskinn), you climb to the Britannia Hütte (3030m) in the Michabel Massif. Accomodation, dinner and overnight stay.
- Day 4: From the Britannia Hütte (3030m) to the Rifugio Guide del Cervino (3480m). Departing from Britannia Hütte (3030m) and through the Allalin Pass (3564m), you reach Täsch where you will take the train to the beautiful village of Zermatt (1608m). By the highest cableway in Europe, from Zermatt you arrive to the Klein Matterhorn (3883m). From here, you reach the Rifugio Guide del Cervino (3480m) at Plateau Rosà. Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
- Day 5: from the Rifugio Guide del Cervino (3480m) to Champoluc (1568m). Departure from the Rifugio Guide del Cervino (3480m) possible climb to the Western Breithorn (4165m) and descent to Champoluc again.

Magnificent itinerary around the Matterhorn, leaving and returning from Bionaz. This tour allows you to admire the magnificent glaciers of the Swiss side of the Matterhorn, and wild and isolated valleys of Valpelline.

- Day 3: From Rifugio Nacamuli (2818m) to Rifugio Guide del Cervino (3480m). Departure from Rifugio Nacamuli (2818m), climb to Coll Collon (3074m), descend on Arolla Glacier, climb to Col de Mont Brulè (3230m), climb to Tete de Valpelline (3798m), downhill to Zermatt (1608m). With the lifts you go up to the Rifugio Guide del Cervino (3480m). Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
- Day 4: From the Rifugio Guide del Cervino (3480m) to the Rifugio Prarayer (2005m). Climb to Chateau des Dames (3488m) with skins or helicopter, downhill to Rifugio Prarayer (2005m). Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Panoramic itinerary that allows you to enjoy very interesting views of the Klein Matterhorn, the Breithorn, and other peaks that surround them. Once you reach the Kleine Matterhorn, you arrive at the Colle del Breithorn, you continue under Breithorn and in the Castore direction. Near the Bivacco Rossi Volante, you climb the final slope to the tip.

Western Breithorn (4160m) from Cervinia
Easy climb and also suitable for alpine skiing beginners, which will allow you to admire an incredible and big panorama. Once you reach the Kleine Matterhorn, you arrive at the Colle del Breithorn and you climb up the gentle slope to the top. An exciting descent will bring you back to Cervinia or, if the conditions allowed, is possible to ski back down Champoluc with a magnificent 2500m descent.

High altitude trip with fantastic views and beautiful descent on the heart of Monte Rosa. From the arrival of the Indren cable car you climb up the Lys glacier; then you pass near the Corno Nero and you go to the Pyramide Vincent. Climbing the last slopes, a little more steep, up to the summit. This is a perfect intoduction to the high mountain skiing.

The Punta Giordani, is the “4000” the most easily accessible of the Monte Rosa area and allows even to ski mountaineering at high altitude novices to try this fantastic experience. From the arrival of the Indren cable car, you cross the Indren glacier by slopes, sometimes a bit steep. A last part leads to the ridge. From here, you leave the skis and with a short but exposed rocky stretch you reach the statue of the summit.

Punta Dufour (4634m) or Punta Nordend (4609m)
Two days between Italy and Switzerland, staying in the famous Monte Rosa Hütte in the heart of the Gorner glacier. You will have the chance to climb Punta Dufour, the highest peak of the Monte Rosa Massif, or the less famous but not less spectacular Punta Nordend, the second highest peak in the Monte Rosa group. From there a huge descent of 3000m will take you back to Zermatt.
Program:
- Day 1: Cervinia (2050m) – Stockhorn – Cima di Jazzi (3805m) – Monte Rosa Hütte (2883m). Meeting at Cervinia and by means the lifts, you reach Furi and Stockhorn (3405m). Climb to the Cima di Jazzi (3805m) and through the Gorner glacier, you reach the Monte Rosa Hütte (2883m). Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
- Day 2: Monte Rosa Hütte (2883m) – Punta Dufour (4634m) or Punta Nordend (4609m) – Fury – Cervinia (2050m). Departure from Monte Rosa Hütte (2883m), crossing the Monte Rosa Glacier and climb to Punta Dufour (4634m) or Punta Nordend (4609m). Downhill to Fury and through the lifts back to Cervinia.

Regina Margherita Hut (4554m)
Through the glaciers of the Lys Valley, in the heart of Monterosa, you reach the highest hut in Europe from where, you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama. The descent on the glacier gives satisfaction for the most demanding ski tourer.
Program:
- Day 1: Frachey – Punta Indren (3275m) – Rifugio Mantova (3498m) or Gnifetti (3647m). Meeting at Frachey and reaching Punta Indren (3275m) by the lifts. Put your skis on to Rifugio Mantova (3498m) Gnifetti (3647m) depending on availability. Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay. Altitude difference: + 300m
- Day 2: Rifugio Mantova (3498m) or Gnifetti (3647m) – Capanna Margherita (4554m) – Frachey. Departing from the hut you reach the Colle del Lys (4250m), then you will take near the Colle Gnifetti and with a last stretch a bit steep, you reach the hut. Downhill along the same itinerary and, by the lifts Frachey is reached.

Two days to discover two classic summits of Monte Rosa.
Program:
- Day 1: Cervinia (2050m) – Polluce (4091m) – Rifugio Guide Ayas (3420m). Metting point at Cervinia and lifts to Plateau Rosà (3480m). Put on your skis and go to the Kleine Matterhorn (3883m) and the Colle del Breithorn. Passing under Breithorn and Roccia Nera (4106m) and you will come to the Bivacco Rossi Volante. You start climbing to the summit of Pollux (4091m). Going down you will reach the Rifugio Guide Ayas (3420m). Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.
- Day 2: Rifugio Guide Ayas (3420m) – Castor (4226m). Starting from the Rifugio Guide Ayas (3420m), you cross the Verra Glacier and after you climb to the summit of Castore. The summit is reached by an aerial and very panoramic ridge. Return to the way up to Plateau Rosà. Descend to Cervinia and return to the cars. Alternatively, reaching Cervinia in the morning with a transfer, is possible to ski down to Champoluc.

During all the Saturday of the seasons (from 02 December 2017 to 05 May 2018), the Alpine Guides offer a series of mountain skiing excursions to discover our mountains … The itineraries will be selected week by week from our Guides, according to the weather and snow conditions. They will be in the Monterosa Ski area, or in other locations in Aosta Valley. Depending on the snow conditions, dates may be subject to change.
